Grant Writing, Business Cases and Project Plans

Sierracon has a strong track record in grant writing and preparing great business cases and project implementation plans. We value working closely with clients to efficiently and effectively coordinate the compilation and presentation of information, supported by stakeholder engagement as required.

Our track record includes a very high win ratio for grant applications. This is because we understand that to be successful efforts to attract external funding and co-investment must clearly, concisely and logically describe and communicate a project.

This includes articulating a strong business case, describing the steps and practical considerations for implementation and providing assurance around project risks.

Example projects

  • Preparation of a business plan for the Sarsfield Community Association (SCA) in East Gippsland (engaged by Emergency Recovery Victoria - ERV and EGSC) in 2023/24. This was informed by local and regional stakeholder engagement including benchmarking with other communities to document a range of lessons learned from operating a community facility. I prepared the business plan working with the SCA Committee and facilitated a productive and well-attended community session to present and discuss the plan.
  • Preparation of project plan for the Winton Wetlands primary school education program “Winton Wetlands Learning and Living”. The Program has been designed to deliver learning to primary school students, specifically aligned with the Victorian Curriculum in STEM, history, geography and art – with the Winton Wetlands as a learning centrepiece. 2022.
  • Project Implementation Plan for the Baker Seed Co Grain Receivals Test Evaluation and Education and Training Centre. This plan provided the details to implement the project to evaluate an alternative grain testing technology and to establish an industry education and training centre, 2022.
  • Preparation of a range of successful grant applications and project plans for bushfire-affected communities, working with Community Recovery Groups and other stakeholders (engaged by Emergency Recovery Victoria), completed during 2020-22. This included: Jamieson Community Energy Node Project, Tintaldra Recreation Revitalisation Project, Towong Racecourse and Recreation Power Revitalisation Project and Mount Beauty Stadium Backup Power Upgrade Project, new sports courts at Buchan - East Gippsland, and the Upper Murray Historical Society Museum Refurbishment Project. Total funding secured: $1.2 million.
  • Development and application of a prospectus for the Corryong Airport Development. This work included extensive consultation with airports and aviation industry businesses across southeastern Australia. This also involved undertaking benchmarking of regional airports around Australia and documenting key insights for best practice of airport operations. I subsequently prepared a successful grant application, securing $262,000 for a Self-serve 24-hour Aviation Fuel Facility at Corryong Airport. Towong Shire Council, Australia, 2019-2020.
